Blogland Tour

I am super excited to get to share a little with you today as part of a Blogland Tour that my sweet friend Angela from AtoZCustomCreations invited my to join. Last week she answered a few questions about herself and her work inspirations and introduced a few of her favorite people and I am proud to say that I was on the list! Angela and I met through facebook and we immediatly hit it off. Destined to be friends from the start I tell you! Sometimes you just know and that is for sure how this friendship went. So glad to call her a friend and an inspiration in my life. She is full of fun and funky ideas and is a think outside of the box kind of gal which is for sure why we hit it off! Plus, I am totally crushing on that fantastic hair!

 Amazing work, right?!?

Amazing work, right?!?

Now... let’s get past the mushy talk and get on to the 4 questions that were presented to me so that after that I can introduce you to some my favorite peeps!

1. What are you working on right now.

Well, to be honest... we are always working on something! You see, this is a family business (My husband and myself) and we work from a small shop right outside of our home. We do lots of custom painting and custom built furniture. Lately I have been doing upholstery, also. I love, love, love the job and feel so blessed every single day that we get to create these amazing things for others to enjoy in their homes for years to come. It is a pretty amazing job.

2. How does my work differ from others?

I guess I kinda answered that one in the previous question. We work from home, as a team. Not many folks could say that they work well with their spouse. He builds, I paint. I design, he makes it a reality. I use the saw, he fixes it.. Ha... only kidding. We work well as a team and both have different things to contribute and I love that. I think it makes it more fun and also challenging. We wouldn’t want to do it if it was easy, right?!? I will add that one thing that makes our work different is that we do custom build and do lots of repurposing. We love to turn an old family piece into a new treasure for the continuing generations to love. I also really love bold, fresh colors. I know this style is not for everyone but I learned long ago that if I do my style and show what I trully love, then it shows in the work I do. It shows that I love what I do! That means so much.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

This one is easy. I do it because I love it. Simple explanation. I do what I love and I am happy because of it. I used to work full time, only to come home and be stressed about getting started working on custom work. My kids and my husband suffered along with me.  Now, I create full time and spend as much time as I can soaking in every minute of it. I play with paint, fabric, and sawdust every single day. It is what I LOVE. I hope it shows. I say we should enjoy life because you never know what tommorrow will bring so having a job that I love means the world to me. It also made it possible for me to homeschool my children which has been an amazing thing.

Last but not least...4. How does your writing/creative process work?

l just like to share with others and hope to inspire. I don’t really blog about my house although, I would. I love my little cottage and am happy to share. I love to share projects and how to’s. I will be honest... my writing is not usually only me. My husband has become my writer/blogger after we discuss what we want to talk about. I am the one who takes all the pictures and keeps up with the steps but he is a much better writer than me. See, teamwork is key in this house. He is the serious one so that works well for us. Someone has to be the practical one I guess. ;)

Ok, ok... I am ready to introduce you to my favorite people in the blog world! Are you ready??

First, meet Sada from For the Love Creations. Sada is nowhere near me, in fact she is not even in the United States... she is in Australia. She has an amazing eye for all things wonderful and has a fun funky style like me. We stalk one another on facebook and instagram. I love her kind heart and her positive encouragment. She is truly an inspiration in all the work she does. So glad to have found her. Isn’t it amazing that we can have friends all over the globe!

Next, I want to introduce you to my friend Carmella from Creative Carmella. I met Carmella at a barn sale a while back because she had the booth across from me. I fell in love with her kind heart immediatly and she makes some AMAZING jewelry. I honestly can say that Carmella is the nicest person I have ever met. I have never heard her say a negative thing. EVER. She has a beautiful family and gives back to her community. She ROCKS! I have several pieces of her work and proudly wear them. I love this girl and you will, too.

Finally, I want to introduce my friend Heather from Retro101. Heather is a self proclaimed hustler. (That cracks me up every time!) She is from Indiana and has a Boutique on Wheels. She goes all over the place! I met her at a barn sale but most of the time you will find Heather and her crew working wherever the food trucks roll up! They set up thier mobile shop in a different place each day and have new and loyal customers from all over! She has wild hair and a wild heart and I love her for it!
